The title of this post sounds a bit like a Dr. Seuss book – but don’t let it’s rhyming words fool you. Today’s message is powerful, God is Omnipresent. He is indeed, here, there and everywhere, always. Seek Him while He may be found…

This blog is one in a journey of a Getting to Know God series. The names and attributes of God are adapted from a guide on the Navigators website called 30 Days of Praying the Names and Attributes of God. Today’s blog corresponds with Day 16 – God is Omnipresent.

Today our guide says this: “God is omnipresent. God is everywhere – in and around everything, close to everyone. ‘Do I not fill heaven and earth?’ declares the Lord”

Our verses for the day are:

Psalm 139:7-12

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me”, even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

Powerful statements right there, huh? Being told that God is everywhere is one thing, but believing it is another. Do you see and feel the presence of God in your life? Or do you feel like God is nowhere to be found through the life storm you are walking through?

Regardless of how you feel and where you may be in your life or on your journey of faith right now, let me encourage you that God IS right there with you. He is with you when you can’t see and when you can’t feel His presence. I have heard it said, and I appreciate the thought, that when we can’t see God it is because He is holding us so close His hands are covering our eyes.

As the passages say above, God is everywhere. He is obviously on the mountaintop when you are there and He is in the darkness with you, as well. In fact it is in the midst of deep darkness that God draws you close as He works on your heart and mind. Take hope in the fact that the darkness you may be experiencing is like daylight to God. Know why? Because He knows the outcome and He knows how it all works out for you.

If you can’t see God, I encourage you to reach out and literally ask Him to reveal Himself to you and ask for the eyes to see His revelation. Then, look for Him, He will show up in amazing ways, but you must open your heart and mind to see Him.

At many dark points in my personal history, I recall doing exactly that – asking for God to reveal Himself to me, then seeing Him nearly everywhere I looked. Don’t let the enemy of your soul convince you that seeing that same Bible verse repeatedly for days, in different places, is an accident. Don’t let the enemy of your soul convince you that the stranger that just smiled at you did so because you looked “pathetic”, etc. Lastly, LET the God of all Creation, who is Everywhere and in Everything at All times, Shine His Heart & Love to you.

If you don’t see God through people look at creation. See the perfection in that sunrise or sunset, notice the abundance of flowers and birds enjoying God’s Creation, notice the pure beauty of the raw world around you and know that God is in all of it, showing His love to you with His Awesome creation. When you see Him, give thanks for the Kiss from the King. Give extra thanks if you are in a storm in life right now and still see Him. Then acknowledge the fact that He is with you always and everywhere and that storm will seem a bit less daunting.

You may think, “Gee, that’s great, I can see God, but I still can’t feel Him – so that doesn’t help me.” If this is you,  I have a harder task for you. STOP – Be Still and Wait. Sit in silence or perhaps with a Christian song playing lightly in the background. Quiet your surroundings – no tech – no noise – no people (if possible) and ask to feel God’s Presence and to be filled with the Holy Spirit’s Comfort. Then, sit and wait and soak in the peace and stillness around you. God is in that Peace, let your Heart feel that Peace and thank Him for it when you do feel it.

Ask Him to continue to show Himself to you and to make Himself known to your heart, then, actively watch for Him to show up and fill you up in mighty ways. He will be faithful to continue to be with you and reveal Himself to you because He loves you like no earthly parent could…unconditionally.

May Abba-Father’s love and presence fill you with courage to keep going one day at a time regardless of your circumstances.

Blessings and love,
Pamela
