Psalm 90:12 Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Do you know what time it is? I don’t mean literally on the clock or phone you just checked, I mean in Kingdom Time. I keep seeing this verse around with various messages about God’s timing and Jesus’s use of time while He was on earth. God’s timing, of course, is always perfect, nuff said.
But think about Jesus…do you think ANYONE in history was more sought after than Jesus, in His time? He healed, He loved, He blessed others just by walking near them and brushing them with His cloak. If anyone ever felt pressure to Get Going and Get Things Done, I would imagine that would be Jesus. Alas, that is not the case. Jesus led an unhurried life when he walked this earth. He knew His Father’s timing and was not in a rush. Remember the wedding feast in Cana that ran out of wine? Jesus said, “My hour has not yet come.” He knew His Father’s timing and had the confidence to WAIT in IT! He wasn’t pressured into doing things to make sure He kept busy. He often – OFTEN – went to a place alone, early in the morning to pray. Jesus led an unhurried life and we can learn much by looking at His example and walking in that same unhurried time.
What time is it in your life? What have you struggled with for YEARS that God is asking you to lay down, give to Him and allow Him to heal? I am sure something popped in your head when you read that question so that requires a follow up question…. Why Not Now? Why can’t you move forward? Are you waiting on something? Perhaps you are waiting until your kids are doing well, or your husband grows in God or your work life changes to allow more time or your health improves or…? I encourage you to take some time to sit quietly and sort out whatever it is that you are waiting on before you start working, with God, on YOU!
You were born for this time in history and God designed you to be a part of what He has planned for right now. So, working with Him to become who He designed you to be is the BEST use of your time. We don’t know God’s timing for this world, but we do have many indicators that point to the fact that we are living in the end times. If that sticks in your craw think of it this way, we are for sure closer to the end than the beginning, right? God is calling you to be His hands and feet for Such A Time As This and we cannot be effective hands and feet when we are walking around broken and defeated. Let God work IN you and ON you to lighten your load, to heal your wounds and to give you strength and wisdom for the tasks He has for you.
The verse above says to number our days so we gain a heart of wisdom. Realizing the timing of our lives and the Kingdom Clock will help us gain wisdom in our choices every day and will help our hearts grow strong for the days ahead. If you don’t know where to start, I encourage you to start by stopping. What can you STOP that will give you more time to focus on God? Perhaps God is calling you to stop streaming the 24 seasons of that program or stop sitting on 12 different committees or stop trying to fix/run your loved ones lives? If you stop and sit with Him, just sit, He will speak to your heart and direct your steps.
I have been doing exactly that for many months and God has been faithful. He has snuggled in with me and helped me free myself from many lies of the enemy. Holy Spirit has shown me things that I have been allowing to hurt me for golly – sometimes 35 or MORE years! As He has shown me those old hurts or word curses or lies that were planted, He has helped me forgive others and forgive myself. That has led to true freedom like I have never known. God has scoured out my vessel so He can pour into me what He wants to pour out of me. Then, without my tainted view, it will not return to Him void, but will reach others for His Good and His Glory.
I love you so much, I really DO, and a strong desire of my heart is to help each and every one of you walk in the freedom that God has for you. Then, to watch you walk in the gifts God has given you to lead others to Him and help them on that same path.
May the Holy Spirit lead your time today and every day. Let Him help you count the days and know where He wants you to walk. May you yield to His leading and lay yourself on the alter to sacrifice your wants and needs and be resurrected to the life that God has for you.
Written with a heart overflowing with love and gratitude to our Great God!
