Are you Pioneering Peace in your sphere or are you Fueling the Fear Factory? Are you Prospering in Peace these days or Floundering in Fear?

I would hope that you could answer both of those questions quickly and to the positive to say that you are indeed Prospering in and Pioneering Peace these days. If that is you, Kudos! Keep it up! This world needs more people with hope filled outlooks instead of people that either purposely or unknowingly share to scare.

The other day as I was driving home from work, I admired the newly leafed out willow tree in our neighborhood dancing in the breeze. Then, I smiled at the pink flowering tree in bloom boldly proclaiming Spring Has Sprung. Both images made me appreciate the beauty of creation and gave me great joy.

Experiencing joy over the beauty of trees may seem silly in the midst of all the epic fear that is gripping our planet these days, but I don’t plan to change my ways. I have Peace that passes understanding and I refuse to give it up! In fact, I will fight for my Peace! Will you too or have you already given up the fight?

A world wide threat of disease is pummeling our peace. On top of that economic demise is throwing a hat in the ring to corrode our calm. To add insult to injury, we recently had tornadoes ripping up the landscape in our Southeastern states. In the face of all of this have you lost your peace? Do you find yourself clicking on stories about the horror going on and, Heaven forbid, tuning in to the news broadcast and/or social media to see more about what’s going on out there? Do you keep digging and clicking and getting scared which makes you dig and click some more? If you are doing that, may I politely ask you, Why? Perhaps I might boldly propose that in the face of these global issues you have a choice.

You can pour your peace out on the ground as you pour over the endless stories and warnings and fear filled froth,


You can promote peace by stopping the fueling of the Fear Factory.


You can hide in your house in the corner until it all goes away (like my cat).

My cat has chosen to hide until life gets a little friendlier out there.

I know which of those choices I am choosing…and my smiling face shows the difference. I refuse to be controlled by fear. If you are afraid right now and don’t think Fear is Controlling you, I encourage you to take a deeper look. Fear is not of God, fear is a tactic (yah, that’s why they say “fear tactic”) of the enemy of your soul to steal your peace. The enemy comes to Steal, Kill and Destroy (John 10:10) and fear is his biggest weapon, his bazooka gun, against us.

Fear enjoys when you cancel events and retreat to your house to sit in solitary confinement. Fear enjoys driving people away from one another and forcing digital only interaction. Fear wants you to get stressed about what MIGHT happen. Fear wants you to lose sleep over what COULD happen. Fear wants to keep your mind spinning to all the AWFUL possibilities out there. Then, guess what happens? Your high stress, lack of sleep and spinning mind end up making you sick. Viola! Then Fear starts whispering in your ear to get you digging to see how your symptoms line up and see how long until you kick the bucket. Fear laughs itself into a frenzy as it watches your grimacing face.

That doesn’t sound fun at all, does it? Nope, so, I make a choice and encourage you to do the same, guard your peace. Make a conscious choice to turn off the fear frothing News Programs. Quick clicking on the bait with the negative stories and warnings. Quit sharing and “sad/cry facing” the tragic stories you see on social media. A wise man once said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Good point, thanks FDR! While I agree with that statement, I don’t think we even need to fear, fear. We merely need to become aware of it then tell it to take a hike. You have power over fear. You have the choice to turn the other way. Recognize your power and join with me in pioneering peace, trust me, its WAY more FUN!

Now, I am not saying throw caution to the wind and start licking hand railings in public places. What I am saying is use wisdom to decide what you should do in each situation. Apply that wisdom then check your thoughts and be on guard for fear. It creeps in slowly and methodically sometimes, lest it show its full hand straight outta the gate. Let Peace be your guide. If you find yourself clenching up and holding your breath or hearing a repeated negative thought in your mind, stop, just stop. Stop and inspect what is causing you to loose your peace, then shut it down. Don’t stop there, but keep going and turn that frown upside down by focusing on something joyful. Find a way to laugh, maybe look up a funny animal video and giggle. Choosing Joy straight out will chase fear away. Continue to choose joy and focus on the good things (like blooming trees and silly pets) and you can put fear out of business.

The underlying truth in all of this and the reason I can walk fearlessly through life is because I trust God. I know He has me (& my family and loved ones & you too!). He has promised He will never leave me or forsake me (Deut 31:6). I can even take it to the utmost degree and say if I got sick and lost my life, I would still be at peace because then I would be face to face with God in a place with absolutely no more fear. There is no losing with God, there is only a wealth of love, peace and abundance to plug into if you choose to trust in Him.

So, I encourage you to trust. Be bold and choose to look for the positive, look for the love, look for the joy just waiting to be experienced. Turn off the fountain of fear and jump into the pure ocean of peace, its a choice I guarantee you will not regret!

I leave you with a directive from another wise, yet less Presidential, man, the Apostle Paul, who wrote inspired by the wisest One who has ever been and ever will be, the Holy Spirit. (Gotta say following this kinda wisdom can’t steer you wrong.)

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Phil 4:8

PS. If you are a lover of Jesus then Peace should be permeating your soul and others should see and recognize it. In fact, others should see your peace/hope in the midst of this craziness and be so baffled that they ask you “How you can be at peace with all of this happening?” Then, you can share your hope with gentle love like I Peter 3:15 says.

1 Peter 3:15 Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
